About Us
The Difference In Your Community
Vision Gaspé-Percé Now was founded in 2004 as a result of a comprehensive consultation process and visioning event held with the English-speaking communities on the eastern tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. Vision works with and on behalf of the approximately 2,600 English-speakers in the MRC of La Côte-de-Gaspé and half of the MRC of le Rocher Percé. The mission of Vision Gaspé-Percé Now is to foster understanding and cooperation between English-speaking residents of the Gaspé Bay area. The focus of the organization is primarily on health and social services, within a community development approach. Vision Gaspé-Percé Now also strengthens volunteerism in the community through promotion and training and encourages the social involvement of seniors through mentoring in schools and volunteering in hospitals and long term residences.
Vision Gaspé-Percé Now recognized
(The Gaspé-Spec, Sept. 2, 2009)
Vision Gaspé-Percé Now is now recognized by the Town of Gaspé in the theme of its Local Community Board Policy, but to a certain limit. The Town's Policy normally recognizes only community boards that have a local mission, within the limits of the town. In that, the organizations have access to funding and other technical support. But the Town of Gaspé recently made an exception to the rule by recognizing Vision Gaspé-Percé Now but to a certain extent, explains mayor, François Roussy. "Vision Gaspé-Percé Now will now have access to technical support, it can receive help from our employees but not financial aid because it has a regional mission, instead of a local mission. We have in fact made an exception for this organization because we acknowledge the importance of it for our community, the work it does is excellent. We are more than pleased to help the organization in the development of its mission and projects."
